Privacy policy
Last updated 18 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data smitcom.lv handles, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can.
Who is responsible
Smitcom Projects, Valmiera, Latvia, is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at io@smitcom.lv.
What we collect
The site has no accounts and no contact form. Personal data reaches us in three ways:
- Analytics, only with your consent. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics records which pages you visit, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. Until you accept, Google's tag runs with all storage denied: it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- Your choice. Whether you accepted or declined analytics is stored in your own browser, so we do not ask again on every page.
- Email. If you write to us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us.
Services that process data for us
Loading any web page shares your IP address with the servers that deliver it. For this site those are:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and protects it from abuse;
- Google Analytics, only as described above.
These providers may process data outside the European Union. Where they do, the transfer relies on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Hosting and security: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website.
- Replying to email and preparing offers: steps you asked for before a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering you.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months. Email is kept for as long as the conversation or the project it leads to requires, and afterwards only where the law requires us to keep records.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email us; we answer within one month.
You can change your analytics choice at any time:
If you think we have handled your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (dvi.gov.lv).
